Compassionate Representation for Domestic Violence Issues

Domestic violence is not only physical in nature. It can also involve emotional abuse such as harassment or threats from your spouse or partner.

At the Hazlet law practice of Wernik & Salvatore, we are aware that the stress leading up to a divorce or other family law matter can sometimes end in domestic violence. Our family law attorneys have represented a significant number of men and women who have suffered from domestic violence. We have also represented clients falsely accused of domestic violence by a spouse seeking to gain leverage in a contentious child custody dispute. You may count on us for zealous, skilled and caring legal advocacy.

Robin T. Wernik was honored for her community work in the domestic violence organization 180 Turning Lives Around. She has also been named one of "40 under 40" lawyers by New Jersey Law Journal in 2002. She puts her clients' rights foremost and diligently represents each of them with care and attention.

Restraining Order Representation

Anyone can go to the judge and request a temporary restraining order. Not everyone, however, can obtain or defend against a permanent restraining order at a final hearing. Within 10 days after the temporary restraining order is granted, a final hearing is held to determine whether a permanent restraining order will be issued by the court. It is important to have an experienced, knowledgeable and credible lawyer representing you at that time.

Many people involved in abusive relationships have difficulty getting out of them. Robin T. Wernik and David Salvatore understand the issues you are facing and are fully prepared to connect you with the resources you need to begin to get your life back on track.

If there is a restraining order against you and you violate it, the consequences are both civil and criminal. Speak to an attorney knowledgeable in domestic violence and family law to learn of your rights and to obtain the appropriate legal guidance.
